Expert Engineering Delivers a Platform Poonton & Link Bridge We are happy to announce that a very interesting project is ready to launch. The Contract of the MUNDRA RO-RO (Pontoon & Link Bridge) was signed between MUNDRA PORT AND SPECIEL ECONOMY ZONE LTD, INDIA and PT EXPERT ENGINEENING on the 25.June 2008. After purchasing and finding all special needed materials and partners for that job, the main hull outfitting of the pontoon started in the middle of September 2008. Two weeks later we started directly with the superstructure work of the bridge as well. The pontoon has a length of 48.5 m, with a breadth of 47 m and a height of 2.5 m. The draft of the pontoon is 1.0 m. The Bridge has a length of 55.8 m by a breadth of 9.34 m. The Pontoon and The Bridge are produced under ABS classification and operating under the flag of Funafuti. The total steel weight of both is around 1200 ton. The complete production was finished in our yard number 1 in Sekupang, Jl.Re Martadinata KM.12, Batam-Indonesia and we involved two Subcontractors: PT ELMESESTEK for the hull outfitting and painting part and CV UNI SEMESTA JAYA which maintained the launching. PT ELMESTEK deploys 50 people per day with different positions such as fitter, welder and helper in the hull production process. They finished the complete steelwork successful within 7.5 month. PT ELMESTEK started the painting part at 2.March 2009 and finished the work in the middle of May 2009 by using Sigma paint. Their very professional work was done within 2.5 month. The Project is made for special berthing maneuver for Port work, as a ROLL ON – ROLL OFF Pontoon. The Vessels are able to berth in around 100 m away from the coast, so that the port can use the possibility of the deeper seawater to prepare a berthing facility for bigger vessels. But in the same time heavy transportation or repairing machinery are able to reach the ships via the bridge. It is very interesting equipment for ports or shipyards which are not able to have deeper seawater directly in front of their jetties. Another interesting part of that kind of bridge connected pontoon is the possibility to pass the pontoon from both sides to reach the pontoon, the existing land or facilities at the other side in a very short time to go right underneath the bridge. Make Drawing The Bridge was transported directly via the pontoon to MUNDRA PORT AND SPECIEL ECONOMY ZONE LTD, INDIA, that’s why it was necessary to place the bridge on top of the pontoon under a very safe transportation standard, because it will be transported in the deep open sea. That’s why we needed a second subcontractor CV UNI SEMESTA JAYA to place the bridge on top of the pontoon under very high safety standard. CV UNI SEMESTA JAYA maintained the launching of the pontoon on the 6. April 2009 an on the 21.April 2009 the complete launching could be successful finished with the sitting of the bridge on top of the pontoon. We are very happy that MUNDRA PORT AND SPECIEL ECONOMY ZONE LTD, INDIA gave us the chance to produce that interesting project for them and we could celebrate the complete launching with colleagues, partners and family at the 21.April 2009.
